Duration

Challange

Creating an easy, low-cost, legal and secure payment method for merchants who have started selling online, but who don’t have websites and whose physicall stores have closed due to the pandemic

Solution

Created a new payment method where a buyer could pay a merchant through a link

Research Goals

Without pre-existing insights, we started the design process with research

Who needs to accept online payments?

How do they receive payments for online sales from customers?

What difficulties do merchants face when accepting payments?

Research methodologies

To reach our research goals, we used 5 different research methodologies to collect data on each facet of the prompt

Pain points

Throughout our research, we identified the pain points of merchants who started selling online during the pandemic and those who don’t have a website

Time-consuming

Setting up a website to sell online was expensive and time-consuming. That's why they were selling on Instagram

Extra costly

Since there was no possibility to accept online payments, they paid the courier both for the delivery of the order and for the money to be returned after delivery

Illegal

They were sending their bank card details to customers who wanted to make online payments so that they could make card-to-card bank transfers. Tax evasion was considered commonplace using a personal debit card to get paid on sales as a taxpayer

Risky

Some merchants have fallen victim to scams after sharing their personal card details to accept online payments

Ideation

To be as productive as possible, we have thought of different features that can help merchants accept non-cash payments. As the next step, we moved forward with one of the most suitable for the users' needs

Wireframe

We prototyped an interaction where users would send links to accept payments

Final solution

Create a link

Creating a link within 1 minute by entering payment information

Share the link

Sending the direct link simply by copying or selecting the desired social platform

Get paid

Being notified when a payment is made and tracking which payments are made and when

"Pay by Link" in a few years

Over the next few years, 'Pay by link' will become a useful and feature-packed product that will not only accept online payments but also make it easier for those who sell online and want to do so

This is a small part of the list of what we can do after we complete our scope as MVP

Adding new sales agent

Since the product was in the internet bank, only those who had access to internet banking could create links. Compared to small merchants, large merchants may have more than one sales agent. Therefore, the feature of adding sales agents connected to the company should be added

Selecting units of measurement

It should be possible to choose the unit of measurement by the variety of products sold (units, kg, tons, and p. as)

Ability to add products, monitor stock

Product selection should be possible while creating links for sellers with a wide variety of products. By adding stock, it is possible to see how much of each product is left

Analyzing customer relationship

Analyzing relationships with customers and preparing tailor-made offers via AI
